New Year of the Rabbit painting

By keeping the out-of-date New Year paintings in the form of origami, this recycling not only makes the design more sustainable but also allows the work to be preserved.

At the exhibition I was fascinated by the patterns on the Greek pots and when I got home I started to collect the various patterns that appeared on the pots, which not only had historical significance but also inspired the artists.

The front of the New Year painting shows the ancient figure of the rabbit, which is said to have helped drive away the plague in ancient times, hence the image was created in his memory.

The back of the New Year painting is about the rabbit helping to chase away the plague. I chose to use a square size for the New Year painting because in ancient China people liked things that were square and the ancients believed that a square structure was stable to maximise the use of space.
